Each image Elisabeth creates must pocess a magical
quality that touches the viewer's heart. Each image must also become a piece
of art, not merely another photograph or another painting. Her soulful portraits
combine the essence of the personality of her subject combined with a master's
touch in composition, lighting, technical factors, costuming and settings.
She then does exquisite hand retouch artwork that gives the portrait the
look and feel of a beautiful painting. Most clients then commission the
portrait to be oil painted or they request a watercolor. If a watercolor
is desired, the work begins from a digital file after the faces and required
retouch artwork is completed. Black
and white or sepia toned portraits with hand coloring are also very popular
among her clients. Elisabeth also creates enchanting digital images. Some
examples include fairies with butterfly or cicada wings, little boys with
wonderdust, fairies sitting on mushrooms or lillipads, angels with halos
and wings, babies sitting on flower petals and Rumplestilkskin sitting on
a spinning wheel while the "queen" spins straw into gold. If you are interested
in capturing the magical element of your child or grandchild's stage in
life, or a one of a kind family portrait, commission a portrait by Elisabeth.
The
Studio Process
Elisabeth always begins the process of working with the client by starting with a free "in-person" consultation. This consultation typically takes 45 minutes during which time Elisabeth works with you to have you look at a variety of backgrounds, styles of portraiture and samples of clothing (from rich velvets and silks to exquisite antique pieces). She discusses vital elements that are critical to the creation of the portrait such as personalities, relationships between subjects, mood, special interests, even how the individual commissioning the portrait sees the subject and what objectives are for Elisabeth to capture on film and to then turn into an artpiece. It is almost irrelevant whether the portrait is high key, medium key or low key, indoors or out, natural lighting or studio lighting. The most important factor is that the portrait be a reflection of the soul of the subject(s) and portray the essence of those relationships. It must have magical qualities that make you want to keep going back to look at it, and every time you do, it makes your heart skip a beat. We can't keep our children (and each other) from growing older, but we can hold time still forever and immortalize the essence of our children and relationships with a one of a kind portrait by Elisabeth! After the initial consultation is complete, the client is given an appointment for their portrait session, which typically takes 1 1/2 to 2 hours to complete. Scheduling is typically between one and two months from the time of the planning conference. Approximately one week from the portrait session, the client returns to the studio to view their images and make their selection in terms of sizes and art treatments. Orders take approximately three to four months to complete. |
