G
iclée (zhe-clay') is a French word meaning "squirt." It describes a technique of spraying. During the process of creating a giclée, tiny dots of ink are printed onto fine quality paper, typically archival watercolor paper or it can be put on canvas.

This process is used to produce high quality, archival fine art reproductions that are often indistinguishable from the originals. When the giclée is produced on watercolor paper, the effect is soft, muted and delicate. When applied to a fine canvas, the effect can be rich and vibrant.

When you purchase a giclée from Elisabeth, each one will be individually signed and numbered. Each giclée will be produced with colors, hues, saturations and densities to match the original photograph or oil painting as closely as possible. Because we then save this information to a computer file, we are able to produce beautiful, consistent results from the first print in an edition to the last.

Finally, each giclée is then hand pastelled and then Elisabeth adds exquisite detailing with rich oil pencils.

 W
e are sure you'll be delighted to own an original giclée by Elisabeth!
